First violinist and a founder of the “Aviv» quartet, First Concertmaster of Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva,and from 2009 Violin professor at Geneva Conservatory,Haute Ecole de Musique, ( Neuchatel Branch) Sergey Ostrovsky is a winner of Grand Prix at 3rd International Chamber Music Competition in Melbourne, Bordeaux String Quartet Competition, Schubert Prize and 2nd Prize at Schubert Competition (Graz, Austria) , Prague Spring Competition, Israel National Violin Competition-Ilona Korenhouser Prize, and 5th Prize in Lipitzer Competition (Italy 1995). Sergey performed with major orchestras in Israel and around the world, such as Israel Philharmonic(Zubin Mehta, Yoel Levi) , Jerusalem Symphony, Cape Town Philharmonic, Johannesburg Philharmonic, “Amadeus” Chamber Orchestra (Poland), etc.

Performed as a soloist and the chamber musician at the major venues around the world, such as Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Auditorium du Louve,Theatre de Chatelet, Wigmore Hall London, Sydney Opera House, etc.

Born in 1975 to a family of a musicians, Sergey began violin playing at the age of 6, studied with D. Lapidus and L. Gantman,

Sergey Ostrovsky immigrated to Israel in 1991 and continued his studies in the Rubin Academy in Tel Aviv with Yair Kless and Irena Svetlova. Graduated at the Rotterdam Royal Conservatory with N. Morozova and Post graduated in Amsterdam Conservatory with Alexander Kerr.

Sergey is playing on 1716 violin made by Giovanni Granccino, purchased with generous support of Mr. J. Mayer and “Tzfonot Tarbut” –non profit organization for arts and artists in Israel.
